Features such as Security info and verification codes confirm the authenticity of your account. The Security info is an alternate email address or phone number which you add to your Office account. If you forgot your password or if someone is trying to access your account, then Office will send you a verification code to your email or number associated with the Office account so that Microsoft ensures the proper authentication to help you regain access to your account via office.com/setup. The moment you type the verification code (sent to you); you will be able to access your MS Office account again.
Note: – The Security info is only to verify the identity that is you the person who owns the account or someone else is trying to access your account.
How can you manage your Security info in Office account?
You can manage your Security info and verification codes settings on your Security basics page. It enables you to add, update or remove the security features such as security info and verification codes. To make the changes select any of the below:-
• For adding security info
- You have to click on the ‘Update info’ option, visible on the ‘Security basics’ page.
- Now you have to select the ‘Add security info’ and then follow the instruction to enter your new details.
- The Office will send you the verification code on your new email id.
- You have to enter the verification code and then click on the ‘Next’ option.
- You will now see the Security info is appearing on your list.
• For updating security info
- You have to click on the ‘Update info’ option, visible on the ‘Security basics’ page.
- You have to enter the verification code sent to your existing email id.
- Now, you have to select the ‘Add security info’ and then follow the instructions on-screen.
- Enter the new email and phone number.
- The Office will send you the verification code on your new email id.
- You have to enter the verification code and then click on the ‘Next’ option.
- You can choose and select the ‘Change alert options’ and then deselect the checkbox.
• For removing security info
- You have to click on the ‘Update info’ option, visible on the ‘Security basics’ page.
- You have to enter the verification code sent to your existing email id.
- You will now see your security info under the ‘Security settings’ option. You have to choose and select the ‘Remove’ option, in case you want to remove Security info.
